Soccer is a very popular sport among many countries. Different countries would come together each year and compete against each other in a tournament called the World Cup. Soccer orginated originally from Brazil but when competitive soccer began was way back in England 1863. Ever since then soccer began to grow even more as a sport and became very popular. The main purpose of soccer is to score a goal in your opponents net using your feet only and kicking the ball. You must come up with a plan to get past your opponents team and score. Whichever team ends up with the most goals at the end of the game wins.

Rules

    1. The BIGGEST rule in Soccer is that you can NOT use your hands to score a goal. It will be called handball and the opposing team will be awarded a free kick.
    2. Teams- There is a Home and Away team. The Home team always starts with the ball first. And when it is half time the Away team starts with the ball.
    3. Throw In-Whenever the ball goes off the field from the side, the team that didn't touch the ball last gets the ball and are granted a throw in. After that you must throw the ball in using your hands. In order to throw the ball in you must be outside of the court and must throw the ball over your head or else it doesn't count and you must redo it.
    3. Offsides- Soccer is very strict with rules. Offisdes is one of those strict rules. Offsides is where your striker has to be in front of the defenders when your striker gets passed to. For example, if the home team's striker is not in front of the away's teams defender when getting passed to it will be called offsides and the away team will be awarded a free kick.

4.Goal kicks- Goal kicks and Corners kicks both happen when the ball goes outside of the field through the goal lines. Goal kicks occur when the opposite team kicks the ball out of the field through the goal lines. For example say the away team makes a shot at the goal but misses terriblely. The home team's goalie now takes the ball and is able to pass it to any of his or her teamates on the field.

    5. Corner kicks- However Corner Kicks are different. Corner kicks happen when the defender or any player on the team kicks the ball out of the field on their goalie side. For example, if the defender for the home team is trying to stop the striker for the away team the defender and slide tackles the ball and possibly kick the ball out of the field through the goal lines. When that happens the away team is awarded a corner kick where he or she places the ball on the corner of the field and is able to pass it to any player on his or her team to score a goal.

    6. Free kicks- Whenever a person on one team injures or fouls his or hers opponent, the person who got injured would be awarded a free kick for his or her team. However there is more to it. There are three types of free kicks. Indirect and Direct free kicks. An direct free kick is where a player on a team can take a shot on the opposing team directly to the goal. But however indirecct free kicks are free kicks that can not be a shot directly towards the goal. A person has to pass the ball to one of their teamates before that shot can be taken. There is also one more form of free kicks. It is called the Penalty kick. A penalty kick happens when a defender gets fouled on for injuring another player on the opposing team but that happens in the goalie box. When that happens the payer who got injured gets awarded a penalty shot from the dot near the goal and is able to score the goal from a close distance.
